How to Use
- Connect the alligator clip to a reliable vehicle ground or the battery negative terminal.
- Switch the vehicle ignition on if the tested circuit requires ignition power.
- Touch the metal probe to the wire, terminal or connector being tested.
- Read the voltage value shown on the digital display.
- Remove the probe and disconnect the ground clip after completing the test.
For polarity checking, connect the clip and probe carefully according to the expected circuit polarity. Never allow the probe to bridge two terminals together.
Why Use a Digital Test Pen?
A traditional test light indicates only whether voltage is present. This digital test pen also displays an approximate voltage value, helping the technician distinguish between different vehicle supply voltages and identify excessive voltage drop.
It is useful for quick checks where carrying or setting up a full multimeter may be inconvenient.
